Barre is a high energy, low impact full-body workout performed at the ballet barre and on mats that sculpts your muscles quickly. Barre is ballet-inspired and includes elements of yoga and Pilates - yet it is fast paced and will get your heart pumping and your muscles shaking! We use weights and other props to work every major muscle group: upper body, thighs, glutes and abs. Active stretching to increase flexibility and elongate muscles is an important part of each class.
-
We use small, repetitive movements and isometric holds to work you to failure. Typical results include sculpted arms, defined thighs, a lifted seat, toned abs and improved posture.
Barre also supports you in maintaining a healthy body weight. With each Barre class, you build muscle and burn fat. Muscle is metabolically active. The more muscle tissue you build up, the more calories you burn as a consequence, even in a resting position.
So the barre burn is real - yet, Barre feels incredibly elegant, uplifting and calming for the mind. We have a lot of fun in class, and your supportive instructors will keep you motivated.
-
Our Barre Classic classes are suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Do not worry if you have not exercised for a while! While the class will be challenging, there are different options available to meet your ability level. Your instructor will help you exercise safely and effectively.

We recommend that you consult your doctor and we require you to discuss any conditions with your instructor prior to class. We do offer modifications to cater to common conditions, such as knee, low back or neck pain. Your highly skilled instructor will show you your modifications and guide you through the class safely.
One of the main benefits of barre is how gentle it is on your joints (as opposed to running or other high impact activities). Barre also helps alleviate many common conditions, such as lower back pain, by strengthening the core, thighs and glutes.

Barre is a great workout during pregnancy, as it can increase your general well-being, keep you strong and boost your energy levels.
Before joining class, we ask that you bring a doctor’s note stating that your pregnancy is low risk and that you are fit to exercise. We do not recommend starting barre as a new form of exercise once you have entered your 3rd trimester.
We require you to schedule a one-to-one pregnancy modification session with us (which is complementary) where we show you your pregnancy modifications, which you can then apply in class.
Barre is also an excellent work-out to regain strength and tone up after delivery. We ask that you wait until your post-natal check (usually 6-8 weeks) where your GP will sign you off for exercise. Please let your instructor know that you are postnatal before the start of class, as you may need to to modify some of the exercises.
-
We do offer private sessions - you can call or email us to arrange this. However, we find that for the majority of our clients, our group classes are the most fun and effective. Our instructors are fully trained to give each student one-to-one attention during class and help with injury modification. The uplifting energy from other clients will keep you motivated and help you push yourself further.

For barre, just wear your regular workout clothes (e.g. leggings and a top or t-shirt). We also require that you wear grippy socks. Trainers are not needed.
For all other classes, wear what you are comfortable in and do not forget to bring layers.
-
Mats and all equipment will be provided.
We recommend that you bring a bottle of water and maybe a towel.
Also bring extra layers (and a blanket) if the class you booked requires lying down for an extended period of time.
